Meet the instructor
Katie Mitchell
PhD(c), MScPT, CAT(C)
Katie is a PhD Candidate at Wilfrid Laurier University. Her research is focused on the neuromotor determinants of visual attention dual task performance with sport-related concussion. She completed an honours undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at WLU, advanced Athletic Therapy certificate at Mount Royal University, and Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University.
Katie has presented at conferences including the International Society of Posture and Gait Research (ISPGR) Congress, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting, Canadian Athletic Therapy Association (CATA), and at the upcoming Consensus on Concussion in Sport. She has presented for several professional groups and associations including the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (RCCSS), and Neuroscience Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
On the bench, Katie is currently a team therapist for the Canadian Women's Para Hockey Team and Lead Team Therapist for Sledge Team Ontario. She has worked with several levels of sport including Rugby Canada, CIS Women's Hockey, OUA Men's Rugby, as well as major games including the National Sledge Hockey Championships (2019, 2022), Para Pan Am games (2015), Ontario Para Sport games (2013), and CIS Women's Hockey Championships (2010, 2011).
